Optimization of parameters of transport systems using simulation methods

Anotace

Transportation systems in general belong to areas where optimization methods have been used successfully. However, the complexity and size of the problems often limit the use of exact methods. Therefore, approximation methods and simulation are often used by the research community to solve transport problems. This area of research is sometimes referred to as computational logistics, as applies interdisciplinary computational methods in logistics and transport. Due to the fact that the topic of this monograph is very broad, it was necessary to narrow the focus to the particular parameters of transport systems, which will be optimized. In terms of research focus of the Institute of Logistics, parameters related to the management and planning were chosen. Planning in transport is mainly determined by the time, and consequently it gives rise to the optimization problem of coordination.
